Antibiotics tested to stop deadly pneumonia in ventilated patients
NCT ID NCT03012360
Summary
This study tested whether giving antibiotics to critically ill patients with ventilator-associated tracheobronchitis (VAT) could prevent it from turning into pneumonia (VAP). Researchers compared no antibiotics against 3-day and 7-day antibiotic courses in 103 patients on breathing machines. The goal was to see if antibiotics could control the infection and prevent more serious complications.
