Could a simple antibiotic replace chemo for this eye cancer?

NCT ID NCT01820910

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether a long course of the antibiotic doxycycline can control a rare lymphoma of the eye (OAMZL) that is linked to a bacterial infection. 44 newly diagnosed patients received the antibiotic and were monitored for 2 years; if the infection returned, they were retreated. The goal was to see if this approach could delay or avoid the need for chemotherapy or radiation.
