Cancer ICU trial: can we use fewer strong antibiotics safely?
NCT ID NCT03683329
Summary
This study tested if doctors could safely reduce the strength of antibiotics given to cancer patients with life-threatening sepsis, without harming survival. It compared this 'de-escalation' strategy to continuing the initial strong antibiotics. The goal was to see if using fewer powerful drugs could help prevent the rise of dangerous, drug-resistant superbugs while still effectively treating the infection.
