Summary
This study looked at whether adding an antibiotic (amoxicillin-clavulanic acid) to the usual steroid treatment could help people with severe alcoholic hepatitis live longer. About 297 adults at high risk of death within two months were given either steroids alone or steroids plus the antibiotic for 30 days. The main goal was to see if the combination improved survival at two months.
