Shorter antibiotic course just as effective for kids with pneumonia

NCT ID NCT02783859

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving children hospitalized with pneumonia a longer course of antibiotics (amoxicillin-clavulanic acid) leads to better recovery than a shorter course. Over 300 children aged 3 months to 5 years took part. The main goal was to see if longer treatment reduced long-term breathing problems. The findings help guide doctors on the best treatment duration.
