Heart valve patients may get clot protection from common gout drug

NCT ID NCT07411768

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether a low dose of colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug, can prevent blood clots from forming on replacement heart valves after a minimally invasive valve procedure (TAVR). About 116 people aged 60-85 will receive either colchicine plus standard care or standard care alone for one year. The main goal is to see if colchicine reduces valve clots detected by special CT scans.
