New tool to measure anal muscle strength in incontinence patients

Summary
This study tested a new, more detailed method (high-resolution manometry) to measure anal muscle function in 60 people—some with fecal incontinence and some healthy. The goal was to see if this technique gives better information than older methods. Participants had their squeeze and resting anal pressures recorded.
