X-rays may miss hidden ankle problems after surgery, CT scans reveal

NCT ID NCT07338149

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study checked if regular X-rays after ankle surgery are enough to see if the bones are properly aligned. 86 adults with ankle fractures had both X-rays and CT scans after surgery. The goal was to see how often CT scans find misalignment that X-rays miss, and whether that affects how well the ankle works one year later.
