Lighter ankle brace may speed up recovery after fracture

NCT ID NCT07521696

First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a lighter ankle stirrup instead of a standard rigid brace helps people recover physical activity more quickly after an ankle fracture. About 280 adults with a broken ankle will wear either a stirrup or a standard brace, and their daily movement will be tracked with a small sensor for 12 weeks. The goal is to see if the stirrup allows faster return to normal activity without harming healing.
