Can a Four-Week exercise program fix unstable ankles in basketball players?
NCT ID NCT07817342
First seen Sep 14, 2026 · Last updated Sep 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers test whether a four-week therapeutic exercise program improves ankle movement, balance, strength, and symptoms in young male basketball players with functional ankle instability. The program adds mobility, strength, motor control, and plyometric exercises to the players' regular training. The trial measures changes in ankle range of motion, balance, and self-reported ankle function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- therapeutic exercise program
- What this could lead to
- If the program helps, it could offer a simple, low-cost way for young basketball players to manage ankle instability and reduce future sprains.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and short, so any improvements may not last or apply to other athletes. Exercise carries a low risk of muscle soreness or minor strain.
