First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether watching parrots, fish, or turtles could reduce pain and anxiety when inserting a needle into a port catheter in 120 palliative care patients. Participants were randomly assigned to one of the animal therapies, and their pain and anxiety levels were measured before and after. The goal was to see if these simple, pleasant distractions could make a stressful procedure easier.
