First seen Feb 13, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at whether having a therapy dog present during dental visits can lower anxiety in children with autism. Fifty children aged 6 to 17 who were very anxious or uncooperative at the dentist took part. They had two sessions with a dog, then a third session without the dog to see if the calming effect lasted.
