New radiation method aims to spare cervical cancer patients from hemorrhoid pain

NCT ID NCT07175584

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to give pelvic radiation to cervical cancer patients who already have hemorrhoids. The goal is to see if protecting the anal canal from radiation can reduce symptoms like pain, bleeding, and discomfort. About 300 patients will be randomly assigned to either standard radiation or the new anal-sparing technique. The study does not change the cancer treatment itself, only aims to lessen side effects.
