Could a placental layer prevent painful mesh complications?

NCT ID NCT07414849

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a thin layer of human amniotic membrane (from donated placentas) to a standard synthetic mesh can make pelvic floor surgery safer. The goal is to see if this extra layer helps the body accept the mesh better and reduces the risk of the mesh poking through the vaginal wall, a painful complication. The study will compare outcomes in 330 women undergoing surgery for pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence.
