Could a placenta layer stop mesh complications in Women's surgery?
NCT ID NCT07414849
Summary
This study is testing whether adding a thin layer of donated human amniotic membrane (the inner lining of the placenta) to a synthetic mesh implant can make pelvic surgery safer. It aims to help the body's tissue heal better around the mesh, potentially reducing a common complication where the mesh pokes through the vaginal wall. The trial will involve 330 women undergoing surgery for pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence.
