New eye patch boosts healing for serious corneal infections

NCT ID NCT07559149

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested a special amniotic membrane containing riboflavin and moxifloxacin as an add-on treatment for people with moderate-to-severe infected corneal ulcers. The membrane was used during a light-activated therapy called PACK-CXL. Researchers compared this new approach to standard PACK-CXL alone in 32 adults to see if it speeds up healing and reduces inflammation. The goal is to improve recovery from serious eye infections.
