New drug combo could boost survival in leukemia transplant patients

Summary

This study compares two different drug combinations given before a stem cell transplant to adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that's in remission. Researchers want to see if one combination (clofarabine/busulfan) helps patients live longer without the cancer returning compared to the standard combination (fludarabine/busulfan). The trial will include 302 patients and track their health, quality of life, and treatment costs for two years after transplant.
