New drug cocktail tested for tough blood cancers in older adults
NCT ID NCT01515527
Summary
This study is testing whether combining three chemotherapy drugs can help control acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The trial is enrolling 160 adults, primarily those aged 60+ who aren't suitable for standard intensive chemotherapy, as well as younger adults with organ problems or those whose cancer has returned. Participants receive an initial treatment phase followed by up to 17 cycles of maintenance therapy to try to keep the cancer in check.
