Heart drug trial pulled before it began

NCT ID NCT05543278

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study aimed to see if giving the drug amiodarone for a short time after heart surgery could prevent a common complication called atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). The trial planned to include adults having heart surgery other than bypass, who had a normal heart rhythm before surgery. However, the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled, so no results are available.
