Life support patients get kidney protection trial

NCT ID NCT07438262

Summary

This study is testing whether giving amino acids (protein building blocks) through an IV can help prevent or reduce serious kidney injury in adults who are critically ill and on a life-support machine called ECMO. It will involve 40 patients across three hospitals, with half receiving the amino acid treatment and half receiving a placebo (inactive solution) for comparison. The main goal is to see if this approach is practical and safe, and to gather early evidence on whether it helps the kidneys work better in these very sick patients.
