First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tested two new, lower-cost therapeutic foods made from soy, maize, and sorghum (without peanuts or milk) to treat severe and moderate child wasting. Over 2,200 children in Burkina Faso received either the standard peanut-based food or one of the new recipes. The goal was to see if the new foods work as well for recovery and better at preventing relapse within 3 months after treatment.
