Stent before surgery slashes leak risk in colon patients

Summary
This study tests whether placing a small mesh tube (stent) in a narrowed artery that supplies blood to the gut can prevent a serious complication called anastomotic leakage after colon surgery. About 360 adults aged 40 and older with a significant narrowing in that artery will be randomly assigned to receive either the stent before surgery or standard care. The goal is to see if the stent reduces the chance of leaks, which can be life-threatening and require additional operations.
