Premature gut trouble may trigger allergies later

NCT ID NCT07562009

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study follows 130 premature babies to see if those who had necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious gut infection) are more likely to develop allergies by age 1-2. Researchers will compare allergy skin test results between babies who had NEC and those who did not. The goal is to understand if NEC increases allergy risk, not to test a new treatment.
