Knee surgery upgrade: extra ligament repair may boost stability

NCT ID NCT02680821

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at people who needed a second surgery on their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a key knee stabilizer. Researchers wanted to see if also repairing a nearby ligament, the anterolateral ligament (ALL), would give better knee rotation control and patient-reported outcomes. A total of 102 participants were randomly assigned to receive either standard ACL revision alone or ACL revision plus ALL reconstruction. The goal was to find out if the combined approach leads to better knee stability and function.
