First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving human albumin (a natural blood protein) along with standard care can help more people survive surgical septic shock, a life-threatening infection complication. About 304 adults in the surgical ICU will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus albumin for up to 3 days. The main goal is to see if albumin improves survival at 28 days.
