First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving albumin, a protein, along with standard treatment can lower the chance of re-bleeding and death in people with cirrhosis who have sudden bleeding from veins in the food pipe. About 60 adults aged 18-70 will be split into two groups: one gets albumin for 3 days plus standard care, the other gets standard care alone. The goal is to see if albumin helps control bleeding during the hospital stay and for six weeks after.
