New scan could spot hidden tumors behind rare bone disease

NCT ID NCT07366099

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests a new type of PET/CT scan that uses a radioactive tracer called Al18F-NOTA-LM3 to find tumors that cause a rare bone-softening condition called tumor-induced osteomalacia. About 40 adults with suspected or confirmed TIO will receive both the new scan and a standard scan to see which is better at detecting the tumors. The goal is to improve diagnosis and help guide treatment.
