AI vs. human: who reads hydration better?

NCT ID NCT07419048

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether an artificial intelligence (AI) system can measure hydration status using ultrasound images of a large vein in the belly, compared to experienced and beginner human operators. Fifty healthy adults will have their vein scanned before and after a fluid challenge that mimics being overhydrated. The goal is to see if AI is reliable and feasible for this type of imaging.
