AI takes on breast cancer screening: one radiologist vs. two

NCT ID NCT07075679

First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study compares using artificial intelligence (AI) to assist a single radiologist in reading mammograms versus the standard practice of having two radiologists read them without AI. About 8,000 women aged 45-69 undergoing routine breast cancer screening will take part. The goal is to see if AI-assisted single reading can maintain or improve screening quality, such as cancer detection and recall rates, while potentially reducing the workload.
