AI coaches heart surgeons: video feedback boosts bypass skills?
NCT ID NCT07400172
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether AI-generated video feedback can help cardiac surgeons improve their technique in coronary artery bypass grafting. One hundred surgeons will submit a video of their surgery, receive AI-created clips highlighting areas for improvement, then submit a follow-up video one month later. Expert raters will compare skill scores before and after the feedback to see if there is improvement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AI-generated video feedback
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that AI feedback helps surgeons improve their technical skills without extra coaching.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with no control group, so improvements may be due to practice or other factors. Results may not apply broadly.
