First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at whether an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can help primary care doctors diagnose skin conditions more accurately. Over 130 adults with various skin issues, including possible skin cancer, had photos taken during their regular checkup. The AI tool gave a second opinion to help doctors decide if a patient needed to see a skin specialist or could be treated in primary care. The goal was to see if the tool improved diagnosis and reduced unnecessary referrals.
