First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests whether using an AI tool (VeriSee) to screen for diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration in regular doctor visits can catch these eye diseases earlier than standard exams. About 4,300 adults with diabetes or aged 50+ will be randomly assigned to AI-assisted screening or usual care. The goal is to see if AI helps more people get timely treatment and reduces vision loss.
