First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study will test a new artificial intelligence (AI) system that reads eye scans (OCT) to diagnose common blinding eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. Researchers will collect 2000 eye scans from patients at Peking Union Medical College Hospital and see how well the AI can identify each disease. The goal is to create a faster, more reliable way to diagnose these conditions using AI.
