AI takes on kidney disease: a new model to forecast Who's at risk
NCT ID NCT07751939
First seen Aug 07, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence-based model to predict serious outcomes in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), such as disease progression, kidney failure, or death. Researchers will follow over 1,100 adults with moderate CKD in Vietnam for two years, using routine blood and urine tests and health information to train and compare several machine learning algorithms. The goal is to create a tool that helps doctors identify high-risk patients earlier and tailor treatments to slow the disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Artificial intelligence-based prediction model using machine learning algorithms
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a practical tool that helps doctors identify high-risk kidney disease patients earlier, enabling timely treatment and better outcomes.
- What could go wrong
- The model is being developed and tested in a specific population, so it may not work for everyone. Also, it's a prediction tool, not a treatment, and its accuracy needs validation.
