AI vs. high blood pressure: smart software aims to personalize treatment
NCT ID NCT06828692
First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether artificial intelligence (AI) can help doctors in China pick better blood pressure medications for their patients. Over 2,000 adults with high blood pressure will be treated at primary care clinics. Some clinics will use AI software that considers patient data and guidelines, while others will use standard care. The goal is to see if the AI tools help more patients reach their blood pressure targets faster and with fewer medications.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Clinical decision support system (CDSS) using machine learning and hemodynamic profiles
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide doctors with a practical AI tool to personalize blood pressure medications, leading to better control and fewer complications.
What could go wrong
This is a pragmatic trial in primary care, so results may vary by setting. The AI tools may not outperform usual care, and the study is not designed to prove long-term benefits.
