AI could spot early signs of mouth cancer without a needle

NCT ID NCT07318922

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study will see if artificial intelligence (AI) can accurately diagnose and assess the risk of certain mouth lesions that might turn into cancer. Researchers will use photos of the lesions and images of cells collected by gently brushing the mouth, then compare the AI's performance to that of specialists. The goal is to develop a non-invasive, reliable tool to help dentists catch oral cancer earlier.
