AI-Assisted endoscopy aims to reduce missed stomach lesions
NCT ID NCT06495645
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares AI-assisted upper endoscopy to standard high-definition endoscopy in 1,000 adults aged 40 and older who are scheduled for a routine upper endoscopy. The goal is to see if the AI tool helps doctors find more gastric neoplasms (abnormal growths) that might otherwise be missed. Participants will undergo two examinations in a row, and the number of growths found in each will be compared.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AI-assisted upper gastrointestinal endoscopy device
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that AI helps doctors spot more early stomach growths during routine endoscopy, potentially leading to earlier detection.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-center study with 1,000 participants, and AI may not work equally well in all settings or populations. The AI tool is an aid, not a replacement for the doctor's judgment.
