New imaging software could sharpen brain surgery planning

NCT ID NCT06191874

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tested a new imaging software called HoloDBS to see if it helps doctors plan deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery better than current methods. Researchers reviewed medical records from 20 adults with Parkinson's disease who were already scheduled for DBS. No extra visits or treatments were involved—the goal was simply to compare the planned electrode location with the actual placement after surgery.
