Game on: new study uses board game to help stroke patients decide on Life-Saving treatments

NCT ID NCT07235839

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether a travel-themed board game called 'LOHAS Journey' can help older adults (ages 65-100) who had a mild to moderate stroke think about and express their preferences for life-sustaining treatments. The game uses blocks and cards to make advance care planning easier and less scary. Researchers measured changes in treatment choices, depression, and hope right after the game and again four weeks later.
