First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether group sessions can help formerly homeless older adults living in supportive housing make plans for their future medical care. Researchers will compare group sessions to one-on-one sessions in 650 participants. The goal is to see which approach better helps people choose a medical decision-maker and document their wishes.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Facilitated group advance care planning sessions
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that group sessions are an effective way to help formerly homeless older adults make their end-of-life wishes known and respected.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral study, not a medical treatment. Results depend on participant engagement and may not apply to other populations. The study is still recruiting.
As listed by the trial registrant
