New hope for HIV patients: adding a second antibiotic to fight tough infection
NCT ID NCT07585461
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a fluoroquinolone antibiotic (levofloxacin or moxifloxacin) to the usual three-drug treatment helps people with HIV who have a serious infection called disseminated MAC. About 124 adults will be randomly assigned to get either the standard triple therapy or a four-drug combo for the first 8 weeks. The goal is to see if the stronger regimen leads to faster symptom relief and better infection control.
