Brain implant learns on the job: new trial aims for more good hours each day

NCT ID NCT07216976

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests an adaptive deep brain stimulation (aDBS) system that automatically adjusts to a person's needs, unlike standard constant stimulation. About 62 people with Parkinson's who already have a compatible Medtronic implant will try aDBS. The goal is to see if aDBS gives them at least as many good hours without movement problems as their current therapy.
