Ancient healing techniques put to the temperature test

NCT ID NCT05665426

Summary

This study investigated how two traditional Chinese medicine techniques—acupuncture and moxibustion—affect temperature in the lower back. Researchers tested 140 healthy adults to see if stimulating different points on the body with needles or heat changed back temperature differently. The goal was to understand how these treatments might work for back pain by measuring temperature changes with infrared cameras.
