Needles vs. needles: acupuncture may take the edge off prostate biopsy pain
NCT ID NCT06987071
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study tested whether acupuncture, given before a prostate biopsy, can reduce pain and anxiety during the procedure. 72 men were randomly assigned to receive either real acupuncture or a sham (fake) version, in addition to standard numbing medicine. Researchers measured pain scores, anxiety levels, and how satisfied patients were, to see if acupuncture offers extra comfort.
