Acupuncture before surgery may steady blood pressure in hysterectomy patients
NCT ID NCT05720884
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether acupuncture given before a total laparoscopic hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus) can help keep blood pressure stable during the procedure. Thirty-five women with uterine fibroids received two acupuncture sessions before surgery. Researchers compared their blood pressure changes from anesthesia induction to after the first incision. The goal was to see if acupuncture could reduce dangerous swings in blood pressure during this critical time.
