Ancient touch technique tested to ease modern surgery pain

NCT ID NCT07411417

Summary

This study is testing whether acupressure, a non-drug therapy using pressure on specific body points, can help manage pain and improve lung function in people recovering from major chest surgery (thoracotomy). Researchers want to see if this approach can reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers and their unpleasant side effects. The study will involve 80 participants who are randomly assigned to receive either acupressure or standard care after their operation.
