Ancient touch therapy tested to ease agony of modern surgery

NCT ID NCT07411417

Summary

This study is testing whether acupressure, a non-drug therapy using finger pressure on specific body points, can help people recover from major chest surgery. Researchers want to see if it reduces severe post-surgery pain and helps patients breathe and cough better, which could lower the need for strong painkillers and prevent complications. They are enrolling 80 adults who have just had this type of surgery to compare those who receive acupressure with those who receive standard care.
