Acupressure boosts sleep in elderly care home residents
NCT ID NCT07277725
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether acupressure—a gentle finger pressure on specific body points—could improve sleep in elderly people living in care homes. 75 residents took part, with half receiving 12 acupressure sessions over four weeks. The results showed that those who got acupressure had better sleep quality and less daytime sleepiness compared to those who did not. The study suggests acupressure may be a helpful, drug-free way to support better sleep in older adults.
