First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether a fast form of brain stimulation, called accelerated continuous theta-burst stimulation (acTBS), can safely reduce suicidal thoughts in adults hospitalized for suicidality. Forty participants with major depressive disorder will receive either real or sham (fake) stimulation up to five times daily for about a week. The goal is to see if this non-invasive treatment can quickly ease suicidal thinking and improve mood.
