New hope for acromegaly patients: drug may prevent spine fractures

NCT ID NCT07179926

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at two medications for acromegaly, a condition where the body makes too much growth hormone. The goal is to see which drug better prevents spine fractures, a common and painful problem. About 120 adults whose acromegaly is not well-controlled will take either Pasireotide LAR or Pegvisomant and be monitored for one year. The results could help doctors choose the best treatment to protect bones.
